Taiwanese HTC (High Tech Computer) announced on June 4 that it plans to buy a majority stake in Taiwan-based Dopod. A final decision on how large the stake will be has not yet been made, but HTC stated that if it acquires 100%, the value of the deal will not exceed US$150 million. Through this deal HTC is expected to take advantage of Dopod's growing market share in China and other Asian markets to increase its exposure in those areas. Further details about this acquisition were not yet released.
